What is it like to be ignored?
What is it like to be unnoticed or unnoticeable?
What if people cannot see you?
What is it like for people to try and walk through you like you are not there?

I can tell you these things because I am a wallflower or, as one visitor might say, 'So wallflower lidat until can die!!!'

Restaurant staff overlook me, the librarian doesn't notice. Even friends can look straight past me.

Does this mean that I am not really here? What's going on?

On the contrary, each time I don't see you, I worry.. What has happened to plink? Has she decided she has had enough of me? Where is she? Has she thrown out all the Tungkus?.. I miss plink whenever she disappears.. very much.

I see you. But I've been lost before and know how you feel.

Restaurant staff will notice when you ask for change with a big bill for the tip.

The library staff will notice you when you piak them with a dictionary.

If a friend passes you by, they may not be a friend after all.

LB: No worry, no worry! Am just a busy little plink right now. Well, busier than usual. All is well and I'm still dropping TungKu everywhere!

SA: What an excellent idea! *runs off to buy the Oxford English Dictionary... in two volumes*

bkworm: *hugs also* Getting ignored does have its advantages. ;)

titoki: That might explain some of the looks that I have (not) been getting lately. ;)

angel: Can! I also want to say 'That's life!'.

Maybe this post came across as too angsty.

Can any of you fade into the background whenever you like? Sometimes it feels like that for me.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

Invisibility has it's pluses, you can eavesdrop on who's talking behind your back, you eye someone without being noticed, you can rob a bank without being noticed...:P

At 5:04 pm, Blogger plink said...

winn: Ya pun, this is the only 'obvious' way I am noticed. I wonder if people pay more attention when they can only see us some of the time.
